Position Summary:

The Welder HF ( Hydroflo ) p erforms a variety of standardized a s well as customized welding duties on standard and nonstandard parts. They p erform custom weldment fit up using the gas metal arc welding/flux cored arc welding process es .

Measures of Success

• Full understanding of relevant Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and the ability to follow all parameters within.
• Timely completion of all welding operations within the operational time limits and according to company quality protocols.
• Capability of welding fillet and groove welds without backing in both the horizontal and flat positions.
• A bility to resolve minor welding and fit-up issues with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Works mostly independently using drawings, specifications, WPS and verbal instructions.
• Uses various types of welding equipment and a variety of common hand and power tools.
• Performs fit up and fully weld s a variety of standard and custom fabrications, with minimal guidance , by r ead ing and interpret ing standard and custom part drawings .
• P erform s final welding operations on complex weldments .
• Uses gas metal arc welding/flux cored arc welding GMAW /FCAW welding process, with or without backing , in the flat , horizontal and vertical positions , o n both steel and stainless-steel materials.
• W eld s full penetration welds on small diameter pipe using the g as tungsten arc welding ( GTAW ) process.
• Uses a scissor lift when needed to access welding work at heights.
• With assistance and supervision, may perform more complicated welding and fit up , using various equipment.
• A ssures that all parameters within the WPS are adhered to.
• Monitors quality of work , makes corrective adjustments and reports equipment malfunctions, defective materials or other unusual conditions to Supervisor .
• Maintains necessary records and completes transactions within the Enterprise Resource Planning ( ERP ) system .
• Maintains work area in neat, clean, and orderly condition and observes all safety regulations and practices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to pass American Society of Mechanical Engineers ( ASME ) Section IX welding test s with the following variables:
  • FCAW/GMAW and SAW processes
  • Steel-steel, steel-stainless, stainless-stainless material
  • Flat, horizontal and vertical positions
  • With or without backing
  • Small pipe diameter in rotated horizontal position
• 3+ years of welding experience using drawings, specifications, charts and welding equipment
• P roficien cy in numerous Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) including small pipe qualification and various welding positions.
• Ability to foll ow verbal and written instructions and effectively apply to assigned work
• Ability to perform repetitive work requiring constant alertness or activity and including standing and lifting for extended periods of time , sometimes at height of up to 10 feet
• Ability to manage time effectively to meet strict time deadlines and production volumes
• Good j udgment to comply with instructions, solve pro blems , and the ability to solve minor technical issues without guidance

Preferred

• Graduate of a welding and fabrication vocational or technical training program
• 12 months experience in a pipe, pressure vessel or structural welding shop

This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position reports into the site every day.

This position has no direct reports.
