This position is for all aspects of material handling and safe operation of material handling equipment. The following are core essential functions of the position:
- Operate material handling equipment to load and unload product in an efficient and safe manner.
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
- Accurately load and unload product, using forklifts.
- Ensure that bundle and band material still meets inspection.
- Check product for visual properties or damage prior to shipment leaving.
- Ensure that all shipments are correctly loaded and stable.
- Record numbers of units handled and moved, using pick list.
- Move stock, and other materials to and from yard and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or using forklifts and other equipment.
- Rebundle product as necessary.
- Assist with inventory counting and reporting.
- Assist with receiving inventory.
- Carry out general yard duties such as cleaning up debris/scrap, maintenance upkeep of the yard and/or equipment, and maintaining efficiency of the stock inventory in the yard.
- Shovel material such as gravel or ice within the yard or around the premises.
- Perform daily routine maintenance checks on loading equipment.
- Reliable attendance.
- Comply with all company standards, rules and policies.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must be able to work 8-hour shifts.
- Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift, push and lift product with weights up to 60 pounds
