Position:
Maintenance Technician. You will assist in all production departments, primarily the Extrusion department, repairing and maintaining equipment to achieve optimal production. You will perform duties including setup, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production and facility equipment according to safety and productive maintenance systems and processes, covering both emergency and scheduled activities.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6am–2pm
Starting pay: $27/hr and up, depending on experience
Responsibilities- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of power transmission equipment; bearings, gears, sprockets; hydraulic and pneumatic systems and pumps
- Assist all departments with breakdowns
- Basic facilities maintenance
- Use a voltmeter; use of welder and basic hand tools; check and replace fuses, motor starters, relays, pumps, motors, and AC/DC systems; troubleshoot faulty electric circuits
- Assist the general maintenance crew with equipment rebuilds, plant shutdowns, and new equipment installations
- Maintain resin systems and vacuum loaders; clean filters and perform repairs as required
- Maintain all support equipment including tape feeders, spiral units, extruders, vacuum tanks, pullers, reelers, air systems and water systems
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area
- Follow all safety requirements of this position
- Fabricate equipment to support production requirements
- Perform other duties as directed by management
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools required for this position: wrenches, torches, voltmeters, drill press, and band saw
- Good knowledge of state and local safety codes
- Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues
- Possess basic computer skills; working knowledge of MS Excel
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently; bilingual is a plus
- Reading, writing, and mathematical competency; ability to perform simple math, take measurements, and understand basic tool use
- Mechanically inclined: operate the machines and observe them during production; when problems are detected, stop the process and perform minor repairs or refer major problems to production leadership and/or maintenance. Some knowledge of voltmeters, fuses, motor starters, relays, pumps, motors, and AC/DC systems; basic preventative maintenance experience; follow all safety requirements
- Ability to successfully complete the company’s forklift training program
- Ability to lift 50 lbs with or without assistance
- Ability to spend up to 12 hours per shift on foot around hot machinery
- Ability to climb ladders, silos, railcars, roofs at varying heights
- Commitment to wear required PPE at all times (steel toe/composite toe boots, gloves, eye protection, dust mask, earplugs, hard hat, face shield as necessary)
- Ability to move between areas by stepping over/bending under objects, pushing and pulling objects
