To manufacture, repair, and recondition precision compressor components using CNC machine tools while ensuring all parts meet OEM specifications, engineering drawings, and company quality standards.

Responsibilities

The CNC Machinist is responsible for safely setting up, programming (when required), operating, and maintaining CNC equipment to produce high-quality parts in accordance with customer requirements and manufacturing specifications.

Job Duties Machine Setup
  • Review work orders, engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications prior to machining.
  • Select the proper tooling, fixtures, work holding, and cutting parameters.
  • Set up CNC lathes and machining centers for production and repair work.
  • Load programs and verify machine offsets, tooling, and setup prior to machining.
  • Perform first-piece inspections before beginning production.
Machining Operations
  • Machine new and repair existing compressor components including, but not limited to:
    • Piston rods
    • Cross heads
    • Connecting rods
    • Packing cases
    • Bushings
    • Valve components
    • Bearing housings
    • Shafts
    • Sleeves
    • Custom-machined parts
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  • Deburr, clean, and protect finished components.
  • Maintain proper chip control and coolant levels during machining.
Inspection and Quality Control
  • Inspect completed parts using calibrated measuring equipment.
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, concentricity, runout, surface finish, and thread quality.
  • Document inspection results as required.
  • Identify nonconforming parts and report discrepancies to supervision.
  • Ensure all completed work meets OEM specifications and customer requirements.
Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, coolant management, and daily inspections.
  • Replace worn tooling and notify supervision of equipment requiring repair.
  • Maintain tooling inventory and organize machine work areas.
Documentation
  • Complete work orders accurately.
  • Record machining time, material usage, tooling changes, and inspection data.
  • Maintain traceability for all manufactured and repaired components.
Quality Expectations

All machined components shall:

  • Meet all drawing dimensions and tolerances.
  • Meet OEM specifications and customer requirements.
  • Be free from machining defects, burrs, and contamination.
  • Pass final inspection prior to release.
  • Include complete inspection and production documentation.
Required Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
  • Experience operating CNC lathes and machining centers.
  • Knowledge of G-code programming and editing (when applicable).
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and thread gauges.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, materials, and cutting parameters.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Forklifts and overhead cranes (as required)
  • Hand and pneumatic tools
Safety Requirements
  • Wear all required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment.
  • Operate cranes and lifting devices safely.
  • Maintain clean, organized workstations to prevent accidents.
  • Report unsafe conditions, damaged tooling, or machine malfunctions immediately.
Performance Standard

The CNC Machinist shall produce precision components safely, efficiently, and accurately while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and workmanship. All work shall comply with engineering drawings, OEM specifications, company quality standards, and customer requirements, with complete documentation and traceability maintained throughout the manufacturing process.
