We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Brewer to oversee all aspects of brewery production, quality assurance, and brewhouse operations. This leadership role is responsible for managing the brewing process from recipe development through packaging while ensuring product consistency, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on brewer with strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a passion for producing exceptional craft beer.
Key Responsibilities Brewing & ProductionManage the complete brewing process, including mashing, lautering, boiling, fermentation, conditioning, and packaging.
Develop, refine, and document recipes for flagship, seasonal, and specialty beers.
Maintain consistent product quality through strict quality control procedures and brewing standards.
Oversee cellar operations, including yeast management, fermentation monitoring, tank cleaning, and sanitation.
Monitor production performance, batch yields, efficiency, and waste reduction initiatives.
Lead, train, mentor, and schedule brewery production staff.
Foster a safe, collaborative, and productive work environment.
Coordinate production schedules with sales and taproom teams to meet customer demand.
Represent the brewery within local, regional, and national brewing organizations while staying current with industry trends.
Oversee preventive maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation of brewing equipment.
Identify equipment repair needs and recommend capital improvements.
Ensure compliance with all applicable alcohol regulations, food safety requirements, and workplace safety standards.
Manage inventory of malt, hops, yeast, adjuncts, and brewing supplies.
Develop production schedules to support taproom and distribution requirements.
Maintain accurate production records and inventory documentation.
1‑2+ years of professional brewing experience.
At least 1 year in a lead, supervisory, or Head Brewer role.
Experience brewing multiple beer styles using a variety of brewing techniques.
Strong knowledge of brewing chemistry, microbiology, fermentation, and sanitation principles.
Experience operating commercial brewing systems, fermenters, brite tanks, and packaging equipment.
Ability to lift 55+ lbs and perform physically demanding work in a brewery environment.
Valid driver's license.
Formal brewing education or industry certifications (Siebel Institute, American Brewers Guild, Cicerone, BJCP, or equivalent).
Experience in small‑to‑mid‑sized craft brewery production operations.
Familiarity with brewery management software.
Knowledge of craft beer market trends and regulatory compliance.
