SHIFT: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (OT as needed)

PAY RATE: $28.75 - $32.00+ per hour (DOE) + Full Benefits Package

LOCATION: Lubbock, TX

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Support others in the production team and Planner/Scheduler in coordinating complete and accurate processing of component pieces and/or plate items.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Follow all company safety and quality policies
  • Assist others in the production team, Planner/Scheduler and Shop Supervisor(s) in determining production schedules for various work centers within the production facility.
  • Generate standard BOM reports with priority information provided by PM, Planner-Scheduler, others in the production team and/or Shop Supervisor(s).
  • Aide others in the production team in purchasing material required for project requirements.
  • If applicable, program and/or clean up CNC files for linear material following best practices and flagging any special requirements.
  • Package CNC and nesting information and provide any paper aid (drawings, nesting breakdowns, reports, etc.) ensuring that any special requirements (i.e. CVN) are separated and clearly noted. Ensure this is organized by priority based on schedule and intended order of fabrication.
  • Maintain releases to the shop and provide updates to others in the production team, Planner/Scheduler and Shop Supervisor(s) on status daily
  • Perform transactions in inventory to allocate/issue material in a timely manner and manage the reserves to prevent over-buying.
  • Work with others in the production team and Inventory Control Manager on stocking levels for linear material.
  • Assist others in the production team to release reserved material in Tekla as projects are completed or nearing completion.
  • Participate in the daily/weekly production meetings and update the team with status of materials and processing.
  • Provide day to day support on the production floor by assisting to remove roadblocks, helping organize priorities/submittals/releases and balance product lines to minimize downtime and unnecessary labor.
  • Aid others in the production team to balance workload with each release including checking of Bill of Materials, finish code, grade, revision level and Import Log review.
  • Aid others in the production team to update BOM in Tekla as needed for both production and administrative reporting.
  • Embrace and demonstrate the qualities of the True North Steel Game Changer definition.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to operate Computer Aided Design/Computer Numerical Control (CAD/CNC) equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to learn company software (Tekla Power Fab/Pro Nest/Syte Line/Others).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to perform algebraic functions manually or with digital assistance.

    Ability to logically think through process steps and identify potential issues.
  • Ability to work effectively with all departments and other divisions.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year experience preferred.
