ISC’s team of Nonprofit Recruiters is partnering with a national nonprofit on a Major Gifts Officer (MGO) opportunity. Our client is dedicated to advancing human connection as a critical component of collective well‑being, working across sectors to address social isolation and loneliness. The Major Gifts Officer plays a key role in fundraising through cultivating strong relationships with major donors, including individuals and family offices.
The MGO will work remotely, with some travel for donor relations, and will have the rewarding opportunity to lead the development and execution of a sustainable fundraising strategy designed to generate $1M+ annually.
The Major Gifts Officer reports into the Fundraising Committee and works closely with the Executive Director and program teams, playing a key role in expanding financial support through major and planned gifts. This position is essential in driving cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts across diverse funding streams. The ideal Major Gifts Officer will possess NFP fundraising experience, strongly align with the organization’s mission statement/values, and demonstrate a desire for continued growth.

- Minimum 5 years fundraising experience including nonprofit sector, required
- Proven track record of personally securing $1M+ annually in major gifts
- Established network of philanthropic contacts, with ability to open doors, build relationships, and engage major gifts
- Strategic thinker with ability to curate initiatives, execute tactically and drive results
- Knowledge of CRM systems/fundraising platforms, experience with Bonterra/Network for Good a plus
- Exceptional communication and written skills, with ability to craft compelling narratives
- Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and develop $3M+ pipeline of prospective funding
- Background in sales/formal fundraising training, a plus
- Alignment with organization’s mission and values

- Drive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts across diverse funding streams
- Develop and execute a 1-year+ fundraising roadmap to secure $1M+ in annual major gifts
- Evaluate current fundraising efforts, identify gaps, and implement strategies for growth
- Translate strategy into actionable plans and measurable outcomes
- Build a robust pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and family office donors
- Design and implement tailored cultivation and stewardship strategies for priority prospects
- Strengthen and scale existing fundraising initiatives
- Align and integrate current funding strategies into cohesive, forward-looking development plan
- Establish systems and processes for donor tracking, engagement, and stewardship
- Provide coaching and guidance to staff and board members on fundraising best practices
