Position Overview

Title:

Physician Assistant – Full Time. Clinic: UMC Family Medicine at Lakeridge.

Summary:

Seeking a full‑time Physician Assistant with passion for patient care.

Responsibilities

Physician Assistants utilize advanced medical knowledge and clinical expertise to guide nursing staff, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule necessary studies and professional consultations, collect and document data, and prescribe medications and other therapies.

Availability Requirements
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week
  • 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday – Thursday; 8 a.m. – 12 p.m., Friday
Essential Job Functions
  • Direct patient care including examination, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions
  • Prescribe medication and medical testing; review and interpret test results
  • Take and record histories and perform physical examinations
  • Communicate with physicians regarding patient care and follow‑up
  • Participate with physicians in reviewing patient health records
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records
  • Perform services in accordance with company policy
  • Participate in quality improvement activities for the clinic
  • Work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends
  • Adhere to emergency disaster plans and respond in disaster situations
  • Demonstrate leadership, teaching ability, and ability to work under pressure
  • Communicate effectively, both written and orally with patients, staff and other entities
  • Possess knowledge of current healthcare practices and technical competence
  • Operate within the established scope of practice
  • Prioritize treatment based on medical and nursing diagnosis, patient history, and expected outcomes

Skills and Abilities
  • Know clinical and nursing standards and practices and apply them accordingly
  • Maintain current knowledge and clinical competence of special skills required to provide quality care
  • Possess age‑specific knowledge when needed for appropriate patient care
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license
  • Good standing with the State of Texas Medical Board or ability to obtain/transfer license to Texas
  • BSN or MSN degree and successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Previous experience as a Physician Assistant
  • Previous experience in Family Medicine
Environmental Conditions

Works in a well‑lit, ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate departmental needs. Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens is high risk.

Physical Requirements

Work is of medium demand; standing and walking most of the time. Lifting and pushing patients, carts, and wheelchairs. Requires adequate hand‑eye coordination, fine motor skills, tactile sensation, clear speaking, hearing, and near visual acuity for accurate charting.
