Major/Essential Functions
- Communicates patient data and documents interventions using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to support decision-making to improve patient care.
- Assists with or performs exams, assessments and procedures and documents intervention in EMR procedures. Operates necessary equipment and instruments for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Administer or assist with administration and documentation of oral, parenteral, or IV medications, oxygen, and/or nebulizer treatments.
- Administer or assist with administration or documentation of medications.
- Screen sick call requests within 24 hour of receipt. Provides nursing sick calls to offenders from psychiatric services and the Trusty Camp. Perform nursing clinic in the Primary Care Clinic or on the pods.
- Responds to emergencies. Performs advanced technical procedures and skills. Avoid Hypothermia, Hypovolemia, and Environmental exposure.
- Assist in admissions, discharges and transfers.
- Prepares and operates necessary equipment and instruments for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Maintains working knowledge of current issues and treatment modalities.
- Day Shift Employees:
Earn an extra $4.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday. - Night Shift Employees:
Earn an extra $4.00 per hour for shifts worked Monday through an extra $8.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
Occasional Duties- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications- Current RN License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of nursing within 120 days of applying for a position.
- Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) on the first attempt.
- No experience required.
