Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, the Graduate Nurse (GN) independently uses the nursing process to safely, therapeutically, and efficiently care for a group of patients. The GN uses information from multiple sources to assess, plan, implement, identify outcomes, and evaluate each patient’s plan of care, while serving as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers to enhance the patient experience. New graduates may perform any function within the scope of nursing practice for which they have completed educational preparation and demonstrated minimal competency.

Graduate Nurses must take the NCLEX‑RN within 75 days of receiving the Authorization to Test (ATT). If the NCLEX is not passed, the role and pay may be evaluated. Upon passing, the Graduate Nurse converts to the Resident RN job title.

• Eligibility to sit for and obtain licensure through the NCLEX examination in Texas.
• Completion of national provider BLS certification (American Heart Association) upon hire.
• Texas Registered Nurse license upon hire, or a Texas Graduate Nurse Permit upon hire.

Pay range: $21.67 – $33.16 per hour. Additional compensation such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities may be available.
