Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations at a Bio Life Plasma Services donation center. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager and performs core responsibilities related to donor eligibility assessment, adverse event management, laboratory result review, and communication of unsuitable test results. The position operates under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and the Center Physician for medical issues.

Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis results.
- Evaluate donor reactions, apply SOPs for medical emergencies, develop Center Physician standing orders, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required, following EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations of pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduation equivalent of a state‑approved nursing program.
- Current LPN or LVN license/certification in the state where responsibilities are assigned.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Completion of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Comprehensive FDA‑approved training as a Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Location: USA – TX – Lubbock
Hourly Wage Range: $23.04 – $31.68 (actual wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location)
