Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Psychiatric Unit
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care is hiring Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to join our Psychiatric Services team at the Montford Unit in Lubbock, TX.
As an LVN, you'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team providing compassionate, patient-centered care. This role offers the opportunity to develop specialized behavioral health skills while caring for patients with a wide range of psychiatric needs.
About the Montford UnitThe John Montford Unit is an accredited regional medical and mental health facility within the TTUHSC Managed Care system. The facility provides a comprehensive range of medical, psychiatric, and ancillary healthcare services to patients across the state. The Montford Psychiatric Unit is a 550-bed inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to providing specialized mental healthcare for a diverse patient population.
Rotating 12-Hour Shifts (4 on / 4 off)- Days – Rotating, 5:30 AM–6:00 PM
Pay grade: $25.20 – $35.00 hourly (minimum – maximum)
Pay basis:
Hourly
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
Major/Essential Functions- Patient Care:
Administer medications, perform assessments, and monitor patients’ health conditions to ensure adherence to care plans. - Clinical Observation:
Identify and report changes in patient conditions, contributing to problem identification and the development of patient care goals. - Medical Procedures Support:
Prepare and operate essential medical equipment for procedures, examinations, and treatments. - Documentation:
Accurately record patient assessments, interventions, and medication administration in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). - Collaboration:
Work closely with healthcare providers and correctional staff to ensure coordinated care in a secure environment. - Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all healthcare policies, safety standards, and regulations, including proper medication storage and direct observation protocols. - Emergency Response:
Assist in medical emergencies, triage patients, and provide immediate care when necessary.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications- Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying.
- Current CPR certification.
- Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) on the first attempt.

TTUHSC may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott, on a limited, case-by-case basis, and may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
