Job Summary

Advanced Practice Provider – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Full‑time) at UMC Family Medicine at West Wind.

We are seeking an experienced or new graduate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is passionate about patient care and ready to make an impact. The APP delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care and partners closely with family medicine physicians to evaluate, diagnose and manage conditions.

Availability
  • 40 hours per week
  • 8:00AM – 6:00PM Monday to Thursday; 8:00AM – 12:00PM Friday

Job Responsibilities
  • Essential Job Functions:
    • Direct patient care including examination, diagnosis, treatment, prescription, and test review.
    • Record histories, perform physical examinations, communicate with physicians regarding care and follow‑up.
    • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and participate in quality improvement (QI).
    • Assist in patient record reviews with physicians.
    • Adhere to company policies, scope of practice and emergency disaster plans.
    • Operate within the established scope of practice, prioritize treatment, and demonstrate leadership, teaching ability, and decision‑making under pressure.
    • Communicate effectively, both written and orally with patients, staff and other entities.
    • Provide patient care and possess technical competence to execute responsibilities.
    • Participate in appropriate QI for the clinic.
    • Flexible work hours to include evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Additional duties as assigned.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of clinical and nursing standards and practices.
    • Current knowledge and clinical competence required to give quality care in the unit.
    • Age‑specific knowledge when needed.
  • Qualifications
    • Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license in Texas.
    • Good standing with Texas Medical Board or Texas Board of Nursing; or ability to obtain/transfer license to Texas.
    • BSN or MSN degree and successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nursing Practitioner program.
    • Basic Life Support certification.
    • Preferred:
      Previous experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, and prior experience in family medicine.

    Physical Requirements
    • Works in a well‑lit, ventilated building with high risk exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.
    • Stand, walk most of the time; lift/push patients, carts, wheelchairs.
    • Adequate hand/eye coordination, fine motor skills, tactile sensation, hearing, and near visual acuity.
    • Work is of medium demand; may be extended to accommodate department needs.
