This position requires an experienced registered nurse to work in an intermediate care unit. The nurse will care for patients requiring step-down level of care. Floating between units may be required. Weekends are mandatory, with six weekend shifts scheduled per period. The expected patient-to-nurse ratio will be 1:4. The candidate should possess skills in managing various cardiac drips and caring for patients post-cardiac catheterization.
Experience with trach and ventilator management is essential. Additional skills in interpreting dysrhythmias, managing central lines, and utilizing telemetry are required. The unit will care for a diverse patient population, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census typically averages around 30 patients, accommodated in a 32-bed unit. Interdisciplinary support will be available from various specialized teams. The registered nurse will participate in the care of patients with diagnoses, such as atrial fibrillation, heart failure, sepsis, and other acute conditions.
Nurse will also assist in special procedures, including TAVR and heart catheterizations. A commitment to the job's requirements, including holiday availability, is vital. Travel nurses may be asked to float to nearby facilities as needed, based on staffing requirements.
