The Supervisor, House RN coordinates and supervises the organization and administration of nursing services and all nursing units for designated shifts
Reports to:
Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Evaluates patient care and staffing and recommends to department’s Director and/or Nursing Administration changes necessary for improved patient care
• Coordinates and communicates patient flow efforts with PPC Coordinators and Regional Transfer Center
• Participate in all activities related to staffing, training, coaching, corrective actions, and employee engagement
• Collaborates with physicians and multi-disciplinary staff to ensure professional nursing care to patients and their families is provided
• Performs quality improvement items such as chart analysis, quality surveillance, and special studies as requested (DNV, CMS, etc..), identifying opportunities and potential solutions for process improvements, and identifying trends that impact nursing practice and procedures.
• Management of Nursing Resource pool and Employee Health exposures after hours
• Management and assignment of Patient Sitter staff during working hours
• Management of all in-hospital deaths
• All other assigned duties
Education and Experience
• BSN Bachelor Science, Nursing • + 4 years of nursing practice Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• Valid Texas RN License/Eligible Compact License registered from Texas State Board of Nursing
• BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Public Notary registration required within 90 days of hire into the role
Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of general nursing theory, practice, administrative methods, application of principles or personnel administration and staff utilization
• Clear and concise communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, email, electronic medical documentation, etc.
• Strong intrapersonal skills and patience to be able to interact with a wide-range of individuals including patients, physicians, multi-disciplinary team, etc Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships This position has much interaction with nursing staff, and occasional interaction with medical staff.
Physical Capabilities This position requires near good visual acuity and good hearing. Frequent walking and/or standing is needed.
Environment The working environment is within a well-lighted and temperature-controlled environment
