4-East is a complex and fast-paced 33-bed Medical Surgical unit that specializes in the care of oncology patients. Our goal on 4-East is to provide exceptional nursing care with a caring and compassionate focus while allowing the patients their dignity during their stay with us. We take a holistic approach to our care not only to include the patient, but the family, and other caregivers to the patient as well.

We collaborate with other departments using a multidisciplinary approach to ensure that our patients get the best, most efficient and quality care. Our nurses have the opportunity and are encouraged to become chemotherapy certified as well as obtain other national certifications such a medical surgical and oncology nurse certification. • CNAs have completed Nurse Aide course and present Nurse Aide certification or have documented one-year experience as a Nurse Aide or have military training equivalent to a Nurse Aide.
• PCA or PCT certification also acceptable
• Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association OR for Nurse Assistant A nursing student who has completed approximately one quarter of their licensed vocational nursing curriculum and clinical experience as evidence by submission of transcripts and completed Nurse Aide Skill Validation Form.

The Nursing Assistant will perform tasks which involve specified services for patients delegated by a Licensed Nurse. Has a working knowledge of organizational and nursing policies.

One year of previous/recent Nurse Aide experience preferred or has military training and experience equivalent to a nurse aide.

Nursing Aide Certification

Age specific knowledge is required when needed for appropriate patient care.

This position requires close interaction with other ancillary departments to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.

Work is of medium demand. Standing, walking most of the time on duty. Lifting and pushing patients, carts, and wheelchairs. Good tactile sensation is necessary for checking patients. Talking and hearing to converse with patients and staff members. Near visual acuity for accurate reading of gauges and thermometers and for recording on patients' charts.

Works inside. Hours of duty may be irregular covering various shifts. Exposure of blood-borne pathogens is of high risk.
