Full Time M-F 8-5 Plus Call UMC Health System Lubbock, Texas The Assistant Director Nursing plans, supervises, and evaluates patient care and nursing staff in/on an assigned unit/department

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for operations of assigned nursing unit to ensure quality care, competent and responsible staff, and cost efficiency and effective utilization of department resources
  • Collaborates with nursing staff, physicians, and members of related health services to create a learning environment to help staff members develop their skills in patient care
  • Participate in all levels of staff selection and development which includes hiring, training, coaching, performance management, corrective actions, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Assist assigned Director, Nursing with workplace safety initiatives, DNV Readiness, Evidence based NDNQ practice scoring, annual competencies, and staff education
  • All other assigned duties related to Nursing/ Nursing Administration
  • May be expected to staff when staffing needs arise and or take clinical staff call when needed.
Education and Experience
  • (MSN) Master Science, Nursing
  • + 4 years of professional nursing experience; +2 years of experience in the assigned clinical area
  • + 5 years leadership experience, leading people and/or processes
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
  • (BLS) Basic Life Skills certification
  • RN, registered with the Texas State Board of Nursing or holds a recognized compact state licensure

Interventional nursing radiology procedures include but are not limited to: liver biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bone biopsies, lower extremity angiogram/ angioplasty with lysis, upper extremity angiogram/angioplasty with lysis, bronchial angiogram/ angioplasty with embolization, liver chemotherapy embolization, arteriovenous fistula declot, nephrostomy tubes with possible stent placement, mesenteric angiogram/ angioplasty with embolization and possible stent placement, carotid angiogram/ angioplasty, cerebral angiogram/ angioplasty, renal angiogram/ angioplasty, tunneled catheter placement, hemodialysis catheter placement, Kyphos/ vertebroplasty/ thyroid, neck mass, and parotic biopsies with possible fine needle aspiration, biliary/ chole drain, soft tissue mass biopsies, IVC filter, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) placement, renal biopsies, lymph node biopsies, lung biopsies, central venous line, adrenal mass biopsies, lumbar puncture/ myelo recoveries, cyst embolization's, hip embolization's and chest tubes.

IR has eight holding out patient beds, one treatment room and two angio rooms.
