Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level IV children's hospital unit requiring 2+ years of NICU experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in a Level IV Neonatal ICU within a children's hospital setting
  • Care for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
  • Patient ratios of 1:2-4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
  • 26-week assignment with block scheduling required
  • Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6-week period via variable self-scheduling
  • Floating between units required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Facility is open to contracts longer than 13 weeks if desired
Requirements
  • Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required;
    Level III experience preferred given the unit is Level IV
  • BLS certification required; NRP Advanced certification required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and administration of blood products and emergency medications required
  • Experience with ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, oscillators, and various respiratory support modalities required
  • Knowledge of neonatal conditions including NEC, gastroschisis/omphalocele, hyperbilirubinemia, and neonatal sepsis required
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including developmental care, patient/family teaching, and thermoregulation
  • Manage complex neonatal cases including seizure disorders, therapeutic hypothermia, and neurologic monitoring
  • Support respiratory care including nitric oxide therapy, tracheostomy management, and various oxygen delivery systems
  • Navy scrub color required for RNs
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space with bike racks on-site
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted up-front; post-offer requests may not be granted
  • Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
