Job Description

Join Atlas Technical Consultants as a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Lab
Technician 1 in Lubbock supporting the West Texas area. This technician will perform soils, aggregate, HMA, and concrete testing in the lab in accordance with TxDOT and ASTM standards, with room to grow into field certifications. Success looks like accurate, well-documented lab testing and steady progress toward TxAPA/ACI certifications.

Core Responsibilities
  • The CMT Laboratory Technician performs lab testing for soils, aggregates, HMA, and concrete to ensure compliance with TxDOT specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct material testing in the lab
  • Calibrate and maintain lab equipment
  • Ensure compliance with TxDOT Tex-series specs and QC
  • Log and document test data
  • Support occasional field sampling
  • Communicate results and anomalies to the Lab Manager
  • Follow all safety policies
  • Participate in training toward TxAPA/ACI certifications
You’ll thrive here if you have
  • 1+ years of experience in construction materials testing (lab and/or field) preferred, candidates with strong aptitude and willingness to learn also considered.
  • Ability to read and comprehend test procedures, specifications, and lab worksheets.
  • Working knowledge of soils, aggregates, HMA, and concrete testing preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Current TxAPA Level 1A, 1B, SB101, SB103, SB102, SB201, SB202, AGG
    101 and ACI Field Grade, ACI Strength (any combination) preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other tools used for material testing documentation.
  • Knowledge of TxDOT, ASTM and AASHTO testing procedures relating to soils, aggregates, HMA, and concrete.
  • Proficiency in preparing and documenting test results in accordance with TxDOT standards and project requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for occasional field support within the West Texas area with flexibility to transition between lab testing and occasional field testing/inspection duties as required.
  • Willing to learn and work toward additional TxAPA/ACI certifications.
  • Comfortable in a lab environment with occasional physical demands (lifting samples, standing for extended periods).
