Medical Research Tech III - Almodovar Lab

A Medical Research Tech III provides support in an assigned research laboratory, conducting specified phases of research projects. The role is largely independent, managing lab supplies, analyzing data, maintaining accurate experimental records, and assisting in manuscript writing for publication. Work may be performed without supervision within standard laboratory conditions, including exposure to radioactive, carcinogenic or other hazardous substances. The position may also involve supervising or directing subordinate laboratory personnel.

• Cell culture work.
• Maintain lab equipment.
• Person‑specific lab duties (making buffers, aliquoting reagents, calibrating pH meters).
• Prepare basic solutions.
• Keep lab and equipment clean.
• Prepare and maintain lab notebooks.
• Help plan and coordinate collaborative projects.
• Help maintain lab inventory.
• Assist in designing experiments.
• Assist with lab infrastructure.
• Assist in protocol development.
• Develop protocols for in vitro studies.
• Read current literature.
• Attend weekly lab meetings.

• Excellent molecular biology skills required for quantitative real‑time PCR, cloning, and primary cell culture.
• Experience with research animal (mouse or rat) handling and welfare.

• Evidence of several scientific presentations in national or international conferences over the past three years.
• High proficiency in mammalian cell culture (primary cells), cell transductions using viral RNA or transfections using lentiviral particles, western blots using chemiluminescence, multiplex ELISA, and flow cytometry.

Bachelor’s degree in one of the sciences, or equivalent combination of four (4) years of job‑related experience and college education. Experience may be substituted for college education on a year‑for‑year basis.
