Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H‑1B I‑129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case‑by‑case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change‑of‑status or change‑of‑employer petitions for qualifying positions. Position Description

A Medical Research Tech III provides support in an assigned research laboratory, conducting specified phases of research projects. You will work without supervision, manage lab supplies, analyze data, maintain accurate experimental records, and help write manuscripts for publication. Work may be required to be done independently, and designated research projects are required. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards may be present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic or other potentially harmful substances.

May instruct or direct work of subordinate laboratory personnel.

Major / Essential Functions
  • excellent molecular biology skills required for quantitative real‑time PCR, cloning, primary cell culture.
  • Maintain lab equipment.
  • Person‑specific lab duties (making buffers, aliquoting reagents, calibrating pH meter).
  • Prepares basic solutions.
  • Keeps lab and equipment clean.
  • Prepares and maintains lab notebooks.
  • Help plan and coordinate collaborative projects.
  • Helps maintain lab inventory.
  • Assists in designing experiments.
  • Assists with lab infrastructure.
  • Assists in protocol development.
  • Develops protocols for in vitro studies.
  • Reads current literature.
  • Attends weekly lab meetings.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences, or equivalent combination (four (4) years) of job‑related experience and college education. Experience may be substituted for college education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior working knowledge of molecular biology for quantitative real‑time PCR, cloning and primary cell culture.
  • Experience with research animal (mouse or rat) handling and welfare.
  • Evidence of several scientific presentations in national or international conferences over the past three years. (listed on resume)
  • Knowledge of mammalian cell culture (primary cells), cell transductions using viral RNA or transfections using lentiviral particles, western blots using chemiluminescence, multiplex ELISA, and flow cytometry.
