Position DescriptionPerforms specialized post-doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible forparticipating in a research project associated with Ph.D. studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of the project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions- Performs molecular biology and animal experiments perestablished protocols and develops new protocols as needed forexperimental plans. Adheres to guidelines for manuscript submissionand grant submissions along with progress reports to the fundingagencies
- Prepares and maintains impeccable and up-to-date labnotebook
- Attends weekly lab meetings, departmental seminars and journal clubs
- Helps to plan and coordinate collaborative projects &guides new lab members and rotation students
- Assists in designing experiments for manuscript and grantpreparation
- Assists in maintenance of lab equipment. Performs orcoordinates cleaning and sterilization of laboratory glassware and instruments as needed
- Performs or coordinates person-specific lab duties includingmaking buffers, aliquoting reagents, calibrating pH meter
- Keeps the laboratory and lab equipment clean, operational, and inspection ready each day
- Maintains and helps to manage lab inventories
- Oversees training of graduate and medical students conductingresearch in the lab during the summer and academic year
- Assists in building the lab's infrastructure and inventory
- Supervise and train new members of the lab and work diligently to meet the deadlines set by the federal and local researchsponsors

Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge and training in molecular biology techniques including DNA and RNA isolation, cloning, DNA manipulation, PCR,quantitative real-time PCR, and CRISPR-Cas9 systems
- Has worked with fungal pathogens and mice model of infection
- Knowledge of ncRNAs, and DNA and RNA sequencing and data analysis
- Experience analyzing data and writing manuscripts forpublications

Required QualificationsPh.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g.,
D.Sc., M.D.) in area ofproject specialization.
Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively,conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions andother outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective workrelationships with other employees and the public. Ability to planand allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.
