Note: This description reflects the responsibilities of a Mortgage Business Development Officer II and includes expectations for engagement with real estate professionals, management of relationships, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Solicit and develop business relationships to increase GECU’s mortgage volume within the designated region of Lubbock and surrounding areas through real estate brokers, owners, agents, builders, affiliate contacts, and outside relationships. Travel within Lubbock and surrounding areas to meet contacts as necessary.
  • Analyze and identify market opportunities, new products, and trends in market data; educate realtors and members on industry topics.
  • Actively market the credit union’s mortgage programs to real estate brokers, owners, agents, builders, members, and non-members in Lubbock and surrounding areas.
  • Make sales calls to real estate brokers, owners, agents, and builders to increase referrals.
  • Travel to visit with real estate brokers, owners, agents, and builders on a scheduled basis; travel to the main office in El Paso with management approval as needed.
  • Collect and submit required documentation and information regarding brokers, owners, agents, and builders; monitor sales activities through management reports; create reports to measure ROI for mortgage relationships; prepare statistical reports for management review.
  • Participate in trade associations related to the mortgage industry as approved by management; review marketing materials for mortgage product accuracy.
  • Coordinate with the Communications Specialist on new and existing marketing initiatives (annual realtor event, realtor education day, etc.).
  • Participate in working relationships with investors; develop and present Home Buying Seminars to members, realtor presentations to brokers/owners/agents, and outreach presentations to different community members.
  • Work with the Offsite team to provide mentoring and guidance; share progress with management; guide the Offsite Team to conduct meetings in the absence of the Business Development Officer; support departmental initiatives and training effectiveness for the Offsite MLO Team.
  • Make discretionary decisions in sponsor ships, representation, and presentations in the best interest of GECU.
  • Collaborate with Mortgage management on strategic planning, development, and implementation of goals to increase profitability.
  • Assist staff with loan product issues and questions; manage the Bond Loan Program (implementation, training and updates); assist with pipeline reviews.
  • Coordinate and present mortgage products; promote upcoming promotions; prepare and present the Business Development budget and annual strategic plan for management approval.
  • Manage corporate credit card responsibly for approved work-related expenses, maintain receipts, adhere to spending limits, and reconcile statements monthly.
  • Schedule weekly updates with management; coordinate staff huddles for updates and feedback on business relationships; ensure all monetary sponsor ships are approved by management.
  • Review and recommend new industry-specific products; maintain inventory of marketing materials for realtors, sponsor ships, and sales calls; introduce staff to industry affiliates; schedule staff for industry functions; recommend staff attendance at seminars and conferences.
  • Attend schools, seminars, workshops, and review industry periodicals to stay informed on ongoing industry changes.
  • Ensure day-to-day compliance within responsibilities, including training for applicable regulations (BSA/AML/CFT, MIP, OFAC).
  • Other duties as assigned in connection with the general operation of the credit union.
