• Contributes to the university's mission through research and service.
• Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
• Work with a group established to substantially enhance the 0‑6hr prediction of severe Texas flooding and other types of high‑impact weather events through a Warn‑on‑Forecast strategy.
• Implement and maintain a real‑time Warn‑on‑Forecast System capability in Texas (WoFS; similar to the same system designed at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).
• Close collaboration with several State of Texas and National Weather Service partners and some associated travel.

• Experience running convection‑allowing numerical weather prediction models;
  Cloud‑based and/or Linux computing and programming experience.
• Ability to maintain a continuous real‑time weather forecasting system.
• Works well within a team environment.

Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a researcher. Should have a record of activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of research.

This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience.

• Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Sciences.

Pay Statement:
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
