Natural Gas Distribution Operator (Utility Construction)

Brandon Bird Utilities Construction is seeking an experienced Operator to support natural gas construction and maintenance projects in Lubbock, Texas, and surrounding West Texas communities. This role is ideal for someone with at least one year of gas distribution utility experience who takes pride in their work, values safety, and wants to be part of a crew that operates the right way.

This position plays a key role in safely installing, maintaining, and repairing gas infrastructure that communities rely on every day.

Our Natural Gas Distribution Operators perform hands‑on work supporting natural gas pipeline installation, maintenance, and repair. Operators are expected to work collaboratively with crew members, follow safety and compliance requirements, and contribute to an organized, professional job site.

We’re looking for someone who knows the basics, wants steady work, and values being part of a respectful, well‑run team.

• Installing, repairing, and maintaining natural gas utilities in accordance with project plans and safety standards
• Assist with pipeline installation, leak investigations, repairs, and related field activities
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, equipment, and company vehicles
• Follow all company safety procedures, Operator Qualification Certification requirements, and applicable regulations
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
• Communicate effectively with crew leads, supervisors, and team members
• Support proper documentation, inspections, and compliance as required
• Contribute to a positive team environment and support safe work practices at all times

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in underground gas distribution utility construction
• Ability to meet company insurance requirements for operating a company vehicle, which may include minimum age and driving record standards
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail
• Ability to follow direction, work independently when needed, and function as part of a crew
• Professional attitude and willingness to learn and improve

• Operator Qualification Certifications required or willingness to obtain
• Please note the company provides training, support, and assistance in obtaining required certifications, including but not limited to OQ Certifications

• Base Pay: $16 - $20per hour, depending on experience
• Traveling Per Diem: The company offers a per diem when traveling overnight to other locations across West Texas
• Health Insurance: The company provides $400 a month towards health insurance
• Company vehicle: The company will provide a vehicle for eligible employees, subject to insurance requirements.
• Operator Qualification Certification: The company will help with training, obtaining, and ongoing support for OQ certifications
