Commercial HVAC Service Technician; Data Centers

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced HVAC Field Technicians to travel to customer sites to start up, commission, troubleshoot, and repair the equipment we represent. Candidates must work independently, possess strong diagnostic skills, and manage projects for start‑up commissioning and coordination of personnel and services. This full‑time role focuses on supporting our equipment sales to data center clients.

• Manage projects and processes while working independently or with limited supervision
• Coach and review the work of lower‑level professionals
• Address complex opportunities, providing solutions
• Start‑up, commission, and support BMS on equipment we represent
• Perform factory start‑up, commissioning, and warranty service on Data Center equipment and systems
• Conduct electrical and mechanical inspections to ensure peak performance
• Interpret engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system(s)
• Represent the company positively to other trades, contractors, and owners
• Suggest additional services beneficial to the customer
• Work in a team‑based environment, sharing information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction
• Submit required paperwork to the Data Mission Critical Administrator in a timely manner
• Work safely, ensuring all safety measures are taken daily
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Perform PM tasks of the dedicated equipment on site

• Apply knowledge of refrigeration, airflow, and theory
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse client groups
• Work independently and within a team
• Communicate and properly describe problems and solutions
• Explain product functionality to customers
• Well‑developed planning, organization, analytical, and decision‑making skills
• Proficient computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
• Produce clear, timely, and concise documentation; strong problem‑solving skills

• Travel substantially within the operational region
• Flexible schedule may be required
• Work in adverse conditions

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training, plus 5+ years’ experience as a Service Technician in a commercial environment
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with a handheld computer (e.g., smartphone, iPad)
• Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Master license)
• Physical ability to work in diverse conditions (mechanical rooms, extreme weather, high voltage, heights)
• Climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and regularly lift up to 75 pounds
• Work independently with minimal supervision while balancing multiple duties
