Job Description Summary
The Field Service Engineer performs on‑time and accurate preventative maintenance in one or more modalities of equipment, follows all modification instructions and service bulletins, and works independently to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on assigned equipment. The Engineer supports more experienced field engineers with installations and complex repairs, driving customer satisfaction through service excellence.
Job Description Key Roles and Experiences- Perform timely and accurate preventative maintenance on medical equipment in hospitals or healthcare systems.
- Troubleshoot and carry out basic service repairs on customer equipment.
- Assist more experienced field engineers with equipment installations and complex repairs.
- Proactively engage team members to ensure appropriate solutions for customers.
- Maintain relationships with customers and communicate timely resolutions and follow‑up.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and hospital protocols to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Document all work performed daily, including debriefing and parts ordering.
- Partner with customers or sales teams to recommend value‑added services and improve business efficiency.
- Utilize the GEHC escalation process and work with regional and national support to define and execute corrective action plans.
- Associate degree in a related field or equivalent military education and 2 years of experience servicing electronic equipment, or
- High school diploma/GED and 4 years of relevant experience, or
- Graduate of the GEHC Apprentice Program.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive after hours or on a rotating on‑call schedule, including weekends.
- Experience with web applications and Microsoft Office suite.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; will not sponsor visas.
- Availability to work after hours, on‑call, and weekend shifts.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35lb unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods.
- Ability to reach above and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck, and maintain good hand/finger dexterity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Technical capabilities in Ultrasound or X‑Ray.
