OverviewAre you looking to gain HVAC knowledge and learn firsthand from industry‑leading professionals? As an HVAC Apprentice at Johnson Controls, you will receive factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA) and be equipped with tools and a vehicle to perform your job at the highest standard.
Responsibilities- Receive and complete certified training through the Service Technical Academy.
- Perform HVAC mechanical equipment and controls work on client sites.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues and customer needs.
- Keep Johnson Controls, contractors, and customers informed of job progress and issues.
- Meeting attendance requirements for required union training during the first year.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Prepare and provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
- 1+ year of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and external contacts ethically and professionally.
- Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
- Self‑starter ability to work independently over time.
- Prioritization of safety in all forms.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: 1–2 years of trade school or college with a technical emphasis.
This is a Bargaining Unit Position. Pay Range: $20‑30 hourly, determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
