Overview
Johnson Controls Inc. seeks forward‑thinking HVAC Mechanics to support its fast‑growing North American HVAC business. Candidates will work with light and heavy commercial systems, perform maintenance, repair, and replacement, and provide customer service and solutions.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
- Install and align complete HVAC systems, including chillers, rooftop units, pumps, fans, boilers, and associated mechanical equipment.
- Use vibration analysis equipment to troubleshoot driveline issues.
- Partner with Journeymen to repair industrial equipment and provide after‑sales service.
- Provide customer recommendations, quotes, and upsell opportunities during commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Maintain safety certifications and obey all relevant safety protocols.
- Travel up to 20% to support branch customers.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (AFL‑CIO).
- Minimum 8 years of commercial/industrial HVAC and mechanical troubleshooting experience, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
- Ability to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon systems.
- Ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
- Mechanical shaft alignment expertise using dial indicators, laser, and vibration equipment.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and, where required, a Universal EPA refrigerants license and applicable state/local licensing.
- Self‑starter with strong customer communication and documentation skills.
- Willingness to take a knowledge exam and to participate in training and apprenticeship programs.
