Manage efficient operation and management of all aspects of the aquatic facility. Your duties include overseeing all aquatics staff, scheduling, training, organizing and supervising swimming lessons, managing pool parties, and ensuring the safety and functionality of the pool area. You will perform routine maintenance tasks such as backwashing, chemical management, and equipment operation. Align aquatics programs with organizational values and profitability objectives while prioritizing safety and patron satisfaction.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Supervises the maintenance and upkeep of the pool chemistry and water filtration system, aquatics facilities, and equipment. May include performing some maintenance duties.
- Manage a team of up to approximately 40 employees and volunteers within the department by training, directing, appraising, rewarding, and disciplining employees in accordance with the organization’s philosophy, policies, and applicable laws. Address employee complaints and resolve issues.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive operations manual including policies and procedures, pool maintenance schedules, and diagrams of indoor and outdoor pump systems; monitor pool usage and maintain enrollment and attendance records to evaluate programming needs.
- Oversee and evaluate the content and instruction for certification courses, and teach these courses as qualified and needed.
- Provide training and supervision to instructors, lifeguards, part-time staff, consultants, volunteers, and others required to carry out the program s functions.
- Maintain regular communication with the Director, including bringing up potential issues and solutions before problems escalate.
- Perform related job duties as required.
- Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in staff management, fiscal management, and operation of an aquatics, fitness, and/or youth sports program. Any appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered.
- At least 2 years of lifeguard experience.
- CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days.
- Certified Pool Operator certification or the ability to obtain one within 90 days.
- Lifeguard Training certification or the ability to obtain one within 120 days.
- Learn and support the YWCA mission, vision, and policies to meet the goals of the organization without compromise.
- Daily transportation to and from work sites.
- Willingness to attend and work special events or projects for the YWCA and represent the YWCA in community groups and activities.
- Willingness to travel for trainings and conferences as required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective communication with staff and the public.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings or weekends.
- Infrequent travel (0-10 days/year).
- Ability to pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check.
- Ability to relate well with a variety of populations.
