Autonomous Vehicle Roadside Assistance Agent
You will serve as a technical support and customer service liaison for autonomous vehicles, performing on‑site troubleshooting, safe recovery, and field assistance.
Key Responsibilities- Proficiently troubleshoot and reboot autonomous vehicles in service areas.
- Monitor multiple software systems to maintain vehicle operations.
- Use Android cell phones or laptops to connect to vehicle platforms and issue restart commands.
- Demonstrate situational awareness and adapt to changes in the operating environment.
- Operate a non‑autonomous vehicle while monitoring the location of the autonomous vehicle(s).
- Safely recover the autonomous vehicle, including parking, disengaging, and driving to a secure location.
- Apply safety procedures during rescue operations and maintain high safety standards inside and outside the vehicle.
- Communicate courteously with management, engineers, and the public.
- Provide clear verbal and written feedback on vehicle operations.
- Complete daily reports and document procedures and tests.
- Educate the public on autonomous vehicle technology and assist passengers during disembarkation and boarding.
- Comply with the Autonomous Vehicle Division zero‑tolerance policy regarding alcohol or drugs, including randomized drug testing.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED required; a four‑year college degree preferred.
- Valid driving record that meets state AVT regulations and any applicable state laws.
- Minimum 1 year experience in entry‑level IT support or software troubleshooting.
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience on public roads.
- Proficiency with laptop computers, GSuite apps (Gmail, Hangouts, Drive, Sheets, Docs), and touchscreen smartphones.
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask across multiple technologies, including vehicle status systems and communication devices.
- Capacity to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, overnight, and up to one month of travel.
- Self‑motivated, with good judgment in fast‑paced, high‑stress environments.
- Occasional standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 45 pounds.
- Work is performed outdoors in a vehicle; requires use of hands, arms, balance, and occasional climbing or stooping.
- Must use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Hourly pay: $25.00 with a 10% shift differential for hours between 8pm and 6am.
