Position SummaryThe CDL Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating company vehicles to transport equipment, materials, and supplies to and from job sites, vendors, and company facilities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and committed to providing excellent service to both internal teams and customers.
- Safely operate company trucks in accordance with all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Transport equipment, materials, debris, and supplies to and from job sites.
- Load, secure, and unload cargo to prevent damage during transport.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required documentation.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs, mechanical issues, or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, fuel receipts, and delivery documentation.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and staging materials when necessary.
- Verify delivery quantities and obtain required signatures or documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicle.
- Complete Hours of Service (HOS) logs or electronic logging device (ELD) records, if applicable
- Perform and document DOT-required pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections
- Report defects and ensure repairs are completed before operating unsafe vehicles
- Secure loads according to FMCSA cargo securement requirements
- Maintain shipping documents, bills of lading, weight tickets, and delivery paperwork
- Comply with vehicle weight limits, permitting requirements, and route restrictions
- Safely operate trailers, air brakes, and other CDL-required equipment
- Participate in required DOT drug and alcohol testing and maintain eligibility to drive
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and field personnel regarding schedules and delivery status.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Represent the company professionally while interacting with customers, vendors, and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required (Class
A). - Clean driving record with the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
- Previous commercial driving experience preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Ability to meet DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, including pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion testing.
- Ability to operate manual transmissions and various truck configurations is preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations
- Forklift certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to load and unload equipment and materials.
- Frequently climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to safely enter and exit commercial vehicles multiple times throughout the day.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, construction sites, and traffic.
- May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overtime depending on business needs.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
