Adult Education Teacher; Teacher VII

The Hampden County Sheriff's Office is looking for a full-time Adult Education Teacher (Teacher VII) to join our education programs at both the All-Inclusive Support Services center in Springfield and the Western Massachusetts Regional Women’s Correctional Center in Chicopee. This is an incredible opportunity to support justice-involved individuals in building essential skills and creating a path toward a brighter future.

As an Adult Education Teacher, you’ll provide group instruction in reading, writing, and math to students at varying literacy levels, using differentiated instruction tailored to meet individual needs. You’ll follow the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRSAE) to guide your teaching and help students improve their literacy and numeracy skills. You’ll also assess students using the MA Adult Proficiency Test (MAPT) and Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) to track progress.

• Teach reading, writing, and math to adult learners at different literacy levels.

• Classroom experience with adult learners.

• Strong commitment to working with justice-involved individuals.
• Ability to differentiate instruction based on student needs.
