Primary

Purpose:

Work with campusadministrators and Education Services Department to provide direct instruction, training, and support to campus teachers on best practices, in orderto raise the academic level and effectiveness of the District's overall curricular program.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

Bachelor's degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate

Master'sdegree or additional certifications preferred

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Ability to work well with people, demonstrate and maintain productive and positive interpersonal skills

Knowledge and experience implementing best practices in instruction

Knowledge and experience using a variety of assessment tools and analyzing student data Demonstrated success in communicating effectively withteachers, principals, parents, students, and paraprofessionals

Demonstratedability to consult with and facilitategroups

Ability to work closely with the building administrator to coordinate and implement the work of a professional learning community

Working knowledge of current research and resources related to district and site-based goals, staff development and group processes

Willingness to serve as a reliable and accessibleresource Demonstrated effectiveness in classroom teaching Previous experience working with adult learners Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team

Evidence of a dedication to the practice of life-long learning

Strong organizational, communication, time management,and interpersonal skills

Experience:

A minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience

Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies
  • Introduces teachers to methods,materials, and instructional strategies that,through research, have proven to increasestudent achievement.
  • Models research-based instructional approaches through classroom demonstrations
  • Makesinformal classroom observations and provides immediate feedback for the purpose of instructional support and program improvement (not evaluation).
  • Assists teachers in incorporating the use of technology into the instructional program
  • Assists teachers in identifying gaps or needs in the curricular program
  • Assists teachers with integrating effective practices into their content instruction
  • Facilitate professional learning communities where current research on instructional practices is discussed
  • Assist teachers in developing a familiarity with,and the implementation of, the District's scope and sequence
  • Progress Monitoring:
  • Provide assessment support to teachersthrough collaborative analysis of student work,formal, and informal assessments.
  • Assist the teachersin developing effectivemethods to monitor theprogress or all students, and offer suggestions for interventions where needed
  • Serve on the campus data team to disaggregatedata used in planning curricular and instructional program improvements at thecampus, classroom, and individual student level
  • Assist teachers in developing sound, defensibleprocedures for assessing student progress and for reporting that progress to students and parents in a timely manner
  • Professional Growth and Development
  • Support thecampus administrator and District Leadership Team in the creation of the campus' overall professional development plan
  • Participate fully in professional development forcoaches, including professional research, reading, and training outside ofnormal work hours
  • Provide informal,ongoing professional development toteachers at point of need
  • Provideformal, ongoing professional development as requested by campus administrationor the Curriculum Director
  • Keep informed of and comply withstate, district, and school regulations and policies forclassroom teachers
  • Compile,maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records,and other documents required
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required
  • Communication:
  • Establish and maintain open communication with principals, teachers, and the District Curriculum Department
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
  • Use effective communication skills topresent information accurately and clearly
  • Customer Care Skills
  • Provide professional communication with students,parents, community members, staff, and other professionals at all times.
  • Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Takereliable messages, and route to the appropriate staff.
  • Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions,voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others.
  • Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Createand maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment towardall internal and external customers.
