Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) registered nurse position located in Lufkin, Texas. This role involves providing patient care in a rural hospital setting, primarily managing adult patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, diabetes, pneumonia, chronic kidney disease, and miscellaneous medical conditions, including community-favored practice of titrating Heparin drips. The position offers 12-hour day shifts with a minimum weekly commitment of 48 hours, requiring familiarity with telemetry monitoring and a team-oriented approach to healthcare delivery.

- Schedule:
12-hour shifts; scheduling is managed by the facility's leadership, and block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Travelers will be scheduled based on the needs of the hospital. - Required Qualifications:
Active BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications; minimum of 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience; 18+ months of recent Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience preferred; excellent communication and time management skills required. - Preferred Qualifications:
Rural hospital experience preferred. - Experience or 'Must have' skills:
Minimum of 18 months recent experience in Medical-Surgical Telemetry; strong communication and time management skills. - Float:
Float rotation may be required, with the candidate possibly floating to other Medical-Surgical units or to the Progressive Care Unit to manage telemetry holds prior to transfer. - Additional Information:
The unit manages approximately 25 beds with patient ratios of 5-6:1. RN staff titrate only Heparin drips. RNs are expected to read telemetry strips; telemetry monitor techs monitor patients but RNs must be capable of interpreting strips. Charge nurses, house supervisors, and nurse educators are available. The unit utilizes the Paragon Charting System, transitioning to EPIC on October 30th, 2026.
Department orientation includes two shadow and/or orientation shifts, and scrubs are navy blue.
