Career Team is looking to hire a Training and Follow-Up Specialist who connects program participants to education and training opportunities and provides professional follow-up services to individuals previously served by the Deep East Texas Workforce Development Area. On the training side, this role develops training-provider partnerships, guides participants through training options and eligibility, and supports individual training account (ITA) compliance. On the follow-up side, it delivers retention, re-employment, and outcome-verification services and documents post-program results in the state's case management system.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Performance Manager.

Your Impact on Career Team's Success

Training Coordination

  • Serve as a primary liaison with training providers to develop new and nurture existing partnerships that grow education and training opportunities for participants
  • Educate participants on the advantages of training and upskilling to broaden employment opportunities and career pathways
  • Ensure current Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) information is available to participants and staff, and maintain and disseminate approved vendor information and performance outcomes
  • Facilitate group and individual assessment, eligibility, and training information sessions for participants exploring training opportunities
  • Assess participant marketability and training suitability and facilitate appropriate referrals
  • Review participant training needs, industry hiring patterns, and high-priority occupations to support career exploration and aligned career pathways
  • Assist with the completion and review of individual training account (ITA) packets to ensure documents are complete and compliant
  • Provide timely reports to Career Advisors, including the pipeline of potential training candidates, available programs, and providers, and consult with them on support services

Follow-Up Services

  • Provide follow-up services to designated former participants of the Workforce One-Stop system to ensure employment success and retention
  • Engage unemployed follow-up customers in job search plans and activities to obtain immediate and appropriate employment
  • Engage customers at risk of job loss in retention and/or employment search activities
  • Provide referrals as needed to support customers' retention needs
  • Work to re-engage and re-establish contact with non-responsive customers
  • Research and obtain documentation to verify post-participation employment status
  • Implement policies applicable to follow-up frequency requirements
  • Document follow-up activities and enter post-program employment and educational information into the state's case management system, ensuring case files include required verification documents
  • In coordination with the Performance Manager, conduct targeted outreach and research to identify and document the employment and education status of designated post-program customers

General

  • Maintain detailed documentation of all contacts in the state's system of record per contract requirements
  • Track progress toward individual and team targets using appropriate platforms and databases
  • Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks
  • Complete all required reports
  • Participate in all staff-related events as required, including training, staff meetings, and individual supervision
  • Approach each day and task with a "ZAG" mindset
  • Other duties and projects as needed

This position is expected to be 100% onsite, with local travel within the Deep East Texas Workforce Development Area to support training events, provider partnerships, and participant follow-up.

To qualify for this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of the WIOA, TANF, and SNAP programs and follow-up/retention requirements
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-thought-out decisions
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Suite, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, productive relationships with participants, training providers, and employers, including virtual relationships with former customers
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base and be culturally sensitive
