Gear Repair Specialist
Compensates for hands‑on manufacturing work, focusing on precision machining, repair and packaging of power transmission gearboxes.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Read and comprehend work instructions for building pallets and crates for packaging.
- Perform mathematical calculations commonly used in a manufacturing environment.
- Operate tools for building and constructing pallets and crates to package and transport, such as nail and staple guns, drills, saws, and read a tap measure.
- Assemble and build crates to contain products.
- Load and unload products onto freight carrier vehicles.
- Use small hand tools and operate material‑handling equipment including forklifts, cranes, hoists, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, or lift heavy objects by hand within applicable weight limitations.
- Perform any other job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Follow all safety and quality procedures during all work operations.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution.
- Minimum two years of experience in a production or industrial environment, or equivalent experience.
- Ability and willingness to lift, pull or push 40 or more pounds.
- Ability and willingness to work first, second or third shift and scheduled work days, including weekends.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, squat and push as required.
- Ability to work in a non‑climate‑controlled environment.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Will not sponsor employment visas, now or in the future.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Multi‑tasking ability to accomplish various duties.
- Immediate response to emergency situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as master schedules, safety rules, operating instructions, drawings/prints and procedure manuals.
- Sound judgment with the ability to make decisions and corrections when problems are detected.
- Strong safety record and knowledge of safety rules and practices.
- Understanding of concepts of rotating machinery installations and alignment; occasional assistance with field service.
- Mechanical aptitude.
Second shift from 2:00PM to 10:00PM, with potential overtime.
