Woodland Heights has an opening for a full‑time Registered Nurse in our Cath Lab Department. This nurse will provide patient‑centered care during pre‑procedure, procedure, and post‑procedure phases, collaborating with the cardiac team and maintaining equipment, safety, and documentation.
Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient‑centered care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN coordinates and delivers high‑quality care based on established clinical protocols and physician/provider orders, ensuring effective patient care and desired outcomes while maintaining a supportive environment.
Essential Functions- Coordinate and deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care per organizational policies and nursing process.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and accurately document findings.
- Utilize knowledge of human growth and development for age‑appropriate care.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor for side effects, and document administration.
- Assist physicians during procedures within the scope of competency and skill level.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Respond to medical emergencies and participate in life‑saving interventions such as CPR and code team activities.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of patients, ensuring their voices are heard.
- Provide patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post‑discharge care.
- Implement and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Monitor and operate medical equipment (IV pumps, monitors, ventilators) as needed.
- Promote patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals.
- Participate in audits, chart reviews, and compliance checks.
- Demonstrate responsible decision‑making in planning, delegating, and providing care.
- Document patient care and education thoroughly in the medical record.
- Engage in professional development to maintain clinical competency.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
- Pre‑procedure: review medical history, assess overall health, prepare patient for procedure, initiate IV line, administer medications, educate patient/family, verify surgical consents.
- During procedure: assist cardiologist, monitor vital signs and sedation, ensure equipment and supplies function, manage complications and emergencies.
- Post‑procedure: monitor vital signs and overall condition, administer post‑procedure medications, continue observation.

0–2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Strong knowledge of the nursing process and clinical practices.
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings.
- Proficiency in medication administration and monitoring for side effects.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation.
- Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
- RN – Registered Nurse – State Licensure or Compact State Licensure (required)
- BCLS – Basic Life Support (required)
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
- PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)
- NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation (preferred)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
