** Job Overview:
**** Responsibilities**:
* Fusion splice SM or MM outside plant loose tube, inside plant tight buffered, and ribbon fiber optic cable
* Prep, dress, and store fiber optic cabling to specifications and assemble equipment according to design specifications
* Preparation of armored and non-armored cables, ribbon and loose tube fiber and mid-sheath applications
* Perform live fiber cut-overs during maintenance hours
* Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber effectively and efficiently
* Proficient in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including fusion splicer, power meter OTDR, VFL and Traffic Identifier
* Ability to read, understand and update splice documentation and maps as required
* Perform other duties as required
** Skills and Qualifications

Required:

*** 1-3 years of fiber splicing and testing
* Working knowledge of the proper use and maintenance of fusion machines, OTDRs, power meters and tools of the trade
* Organized, with a strong attention to detail
* Ability to work independently or in a team environment & communicate professionally with co-workers and customers
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
* Requires a mixture of day and night work.
* Must have a Valid driver’s license
* Be available for 7 day / 24-hour stand by on-call rotation as needed
* Ability and willingness to work long and unpredictable hours if required, including work after normal business hours in the event physical restoration of fiber plant is needed
* Ability to climb up and down ladders and operate a bucket truck is needed
* Willingness to operate within a schedule that is subject to inclement weather conditions
