Job Description
Starting Date: Immediately
Responsibilities- Management of Instructional Time: Prepare materials and bring the class to start quickly, keep students focused; maintain high time‑on‑task.
- Management of Student Behavior: Apply established rules for participation, movement, talk; monitor behaviors during activities and transitions; address inappropriate behavior promptly while respecting student dignity.
- Instructional Presentation: Begin lessons with review, introduce objectives, speak fluently, provide examples, assign tasks, ask level‑appropriate questions, pace activities, facilitate smooth transitions, and summarize key points.
- Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Set clear standards, circulate during class work, assess progress using oral, written, and other products, ask questions clearly.
- Instructional Feedback: Provide timely feedback on in‑class and out‑of‑class work, affirm correct responses, probe incorrect or no responses.
- Facilitating Instruction: Develop instructional plans aligned with curriculum, use diagnostic data to revise objectives, keep accurate records, match objectives to student needs, and utilize available resources.
- Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly, interact effectively with students, co‑workers, parents, and community.
- Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: Execute non‑instructional duties as assigned, follow laws, regulations, and professional development plans.
- Other Duties: Perform other related tasks as required.
Minimum Training and
Experience:
Degree in education or related area qualifying for licensure by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
Minimum Qualifications or Standards:
- Physical Requirements: Use classroom equipment, light work lifting; generally consistent with Light Work.
- Cognitive and Communication: Ability to analyze data, communicate, read reports, apply logical thinking, interpret technical instructions, deliver information.
- Skills & Aptitudes: Numerical, spatial, manual dexterity, color discrimination, motor coordination, interpersonal temperament, communication.
- Monitor safety and well‑being of students, especially in inclusive activities.
- Motivate students and maintain a clean, orderly environment.
- Perform general clerical duties, operate office machines, maintain records.
- Follow oral and written instructions, maintain effective working relationships.
