Financial Advisor / Consultant
• Provide financial advisory solutions involving life insurance, investments, trust services, estate planning, and retirement planning
• Help members understand, obtain, and maintain financial products aligned with their goals and needs
• Interact proactively with members to identify suitable products for their overall financial plans
• Develop ongoing member relationships through frequent communication and education across branch, telephone, and digital channels
• Utilize SECU technology, marketing campaigns, lead platforms, referrals, and branch visits to meet productivity benchmarks
• Work independently to achieve activity and performance standards with limited guidance
• Navigate SECU operational systems, life insurance software, NetX 360, Envestnet, CXOne, and future systems
• Facilitate member requests with other departments
• Maintain KPIs, soft-skill standards, and call quality
• Coordinate with team members on complex scenarios and holistic member needs
• Support and guide newer or less experienced team members
• Train member-facing employees on financial advisory services and quality referrals
• Communicate activities and results to management
• Improve financial advisory service delivery processes and relay suggestions to management
• Assist in other operational areas as needed
• Maintain knowledge of credit union products and services and provide quality referrals
• Ensure member identification, information security, confidentiality, and compliance with policies and regulatory requirements
• Complete quarterly training, continuing education, and assigned training
• Travel to off-site premises or for training when required
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as an Insurance, Investment or Trust Representative or a similar position
- Must have life insurance license or obtain within 2 months of hire
- Must be fully licensed in Investments (SIE/6/63/65 OR SIE/7/66) OR hold the ATFA designation
- Must maintain all required licenses after obtaining them and satisfy all continuing education requirements
- Comfortable acting in an advisory capacity with the ability to have informed conversations with members on various financial planning topics and provide holistic guidance
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and good judgment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to speak English fluently
- Self-motivated
- Aptitude for meeting people and developing confidence, respect, and trust of members and co-workers
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in daily work based on immediate needs
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Must maintain strict confidentiality of member account information
- Ability to work additional hours when necessary
- Must adhere to the manager-established work schedule and attendance policy
- Must possess a vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Office setting with physical proximity to other employees
- Must comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions
- Must be able to lift 5 pounds
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in financial planning, finance, wealth management, math, or a related field - Preferred:
Certified Financial Planner™ or similar designation - Preferred:
Experience in the credit union or financial services industry
