THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Operations Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Plant Manager, the Purchasing & Supply Chain Specialist will play an important role in supporting Rempac's manufacturing operations through strategic purchasing, supplier relationship management, and disciplined procurement practices. Working within a lean, collaborative team, this individual will partner closely with operations, planning, warehousing, production, engineering, and leadership to ensure purchasing decisions support the organization's operational and business objectives.
This is a hands-on role for a proactive purchasing professional who enjoys building strong supplier relationships, solving problems, and identifying opportunities to improve procurement practices. This role is not about maintaining the status quo. It is about finding opportunities, negotiating thoughtfully, and delivering measurable results. With seven figures of cost savings opportunity within reach over the first 12-18 months, the successful candidate will be persuasive with suppliers, disciplined in their approach, and relentless in driving cost reductions while maintaining quality, service, and reliability.
Success in this role will come from developing trusted supplier partnerships, anticipating potential supply disruptions, and helping the organization stay ahead of challenges rather than reacting to them. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys picking up the phone, building lasting relationships, and collaborating across the business to ensure Rempac has the right materials, from the right suppliers, at the right time and the right value.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies that lower costs without compromising quality or delivery.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers of raw materials, chemicals, packaging, components, and indirect materials.
- Build strong supplier relationships while holding vendors accountable for cost, quality, delivery performance, and communication.
- Identify and capture cost savings and payment term opportunities through negotiation, competitive sourcing (including international sourcing), and disciplined procurement practices.
- Develop trusted supplier relationships that provide early visibility into potential supply disruptions and support proactive problem solving.
Supply Chain & Operations
- Collaborate closely with the Operations Manager, Planner, Warehouse Manager, Production, Engineering, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to ensure effective procurement of materials, equipment, and operational supplies that support manufacturing operations and business objectives.
- Analyze purchasing and supply chain data to identify cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support inventory optimization through disciplined purchasing practices while maintaining material availability for production.
- Drive cost savings initiatives that directly support profitability.
- Track, measure, and report on KPIs including cost savings, supplier performance, supplier on-time delivery, and procurement effectiveness.
