Job Overview

P.J. Keating Company, a CRH company, is a leading manufacturer of aggregate and HMA products and paving and construction in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We operate aggregate and Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) production facilities in Acushnet, Dracut, Lunenburg, and Cranston.

This position involves safe and efficient utility duties at Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) plants and stone terminals. Candidates will work as part of a two- or three-man operation; teamwork and cooperation are essential. Plants produce HMA at night to supply paving operations, so candidates must be able to work nights.

• Safe and efficient maintenance and clean-up duties at an HMA plant and unloading of rail cars at stone terminals.
• Compliance with company safety standards and related paperwork.
• Ability to learn plant operations to fill in when required.
• Repair and maintenance of plant components.
• Compliance and monitoring of site environmental requirements.

• Thorough understanding and compliance with company safety policies.
• Capacity to work nights on a steady basis.
• Ability to work well and communicate with customers, management, and fellow employees.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Mechanical competence.
• Capability to complete required paperwork in a timely fashion.
• Operational knowledge of HMA plants and ability to operate equipment safely helpful.

Employees must wear PPE in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA, MSHA, and state agencies. Required items may include hardhat, safety glasses, face shield, welding helmet, reinforced toe shoes, hand protection, respirator, air monitor, reflective safety vest.

Requires standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; capable of lifting or moving up to 75 pounds. Must regularly sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and must frequently talk or hear.

Works near moving mechanical parts, occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and heat, frequently works outside and may be exposed to vibration.
