Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic
Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair.
Competitive base salary of £40,178 with on‑target earnings up to £52,000. Guaranteed overtime option to increase base salary, with additional overtime and bonus opportunities. 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30 am‑5:00 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
Where you’ll workYou will be part of the Stevenage cluster, covering Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Welwyn Garden City, and Hertford. You will travel locally on a planned schedule of appointments – no reactive callouts, just organised pre‑booked work.
Responsibilities- Carry out routine servicing, advanced diagnostics, and in‑depth repairs normally performed in a workshop.
- Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspections.
- Execute vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
- Use a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics.
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
- Minimum two years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
