The Cyber Security Specialist Associate supports monitoring of TECO's information security systems, ensuring procedures are followed daily, weekly, monthly, and annually. The role provides expert‑level support within a team environment for systems that protect enterprise assets, detects, analyzes, and responds to suspicious activity across TECO/Emera networks, and maintains compliance with NERC CIP, SOX, PCI, and other regulatory standards.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesKey Internal:
Engage multiple IT groups and business units—including Energy Supply, Energy Delivery, and Regulatory Affairs—with communication across all management levels.
Key External:
Engage vendors, contractors, regulatory agencies, law enforcement, industry associations, and utility partners.
Education
- Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
Licenses/Certifications
- Required:
One information security professional certification or ability to obtain within one year (e.g., (ISC)², GIAC, ISACA, CompTIA, e‑Council). - Preferred: ITIL v3 and one or more additional certifications such as CEH, CISA, CISSP, etc.
Related Experience
- Required:
5 years of related Cyber Security or IT experience; an associate’s degree may substitute for one year of experience. - Preferred: 6–8 years of experience for senior roles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
- Good working knowledge of operating system security (Windows, Mac OS, Linux/Unix), endpoint, server, and network security.
- Proficient in security systems such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, SIEM, incident response, network flow analysis, and DLP.
- Experience with forensic investigation techniques, packet analysis, and malware analysis.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance (NERC CIP, SOX, PCI, NIST).
- Strong analytical, risk assessment, and communication skills.
