Sr. Firewall Engineer, Progression

Position may be filled at any level within the progression family based on educational and experience criteria but aims for senior level (level 3).

• Plan, design, implement, and support network, server, and storage infrastructure for the TECO and NMGC network.
• Deploy and manage firewall, web application firewall, proxy, NAC, ACL, and other network security controls.
• Support VPN solutions, route/switch, on‑premise LAN/WAN, IPAM, Wi‑Fi, ISP, site‑to‑site VPNs, DNS, Azure cloud, SD‑WAN, MPLS, and hyperconverged infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with NERC CIP, SOX, PCI, and other regulations.
• Perform troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of all WAN/LAN devices, including core and campus switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and load balancers.
• Provide third‑level technical support for security systems on all operating‑system platforms.
• Participate in disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity planning.

• High School Diploma or GED required;
  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum four (4) years of experience in Windows, VMware, firewall support, DDoS protection, proxies, WAFs, Net Scaler, or Cisco networking.
• At least one related professional certification (e.g., CCNA, MCSA, VCP, CEH, CISSP). Preferred certifications include ITIL v3, Security+, GIAC.
• Strong knowledge of Palo Alto products;
  Checkpoint experience preferred.
• Experience designing and supporting VPN solutions and high‑availability enterprise environments.
• Solid understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), NAT, PAT, IPsec, SSL VPN, GRE tunneling, traffic shaping, and SD‑WAN.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Experience with NERC CIP, SOX, PCI compliance in a regulated energy sector.
