Residential Support Worker
SEN Residential School/Children's Home in Lymington
Full-time - Temp to perm contract

Academics are recruiting on behalf of an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' residential SEN school in between Lymington and Brockenhurst in the New Forest. All young people have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) with their primary special need being Autism and require support to access education, have difficulty initiating or limited social interactions and need support with organisation and problem solving, which can hamper independence.

They may typically be working at or above age-related expectations or with moderate learning difficulties.

They are looking to appoint a number of experienced Residential Support Worker's to join them on a temp to perm contract. You will be required to help develop their independence skills, pursue hobbies and introduce new hobbies or any activities the young person would like to try, understand the wider community and help build relationships and make friends.

Residential Support Worker's must be able to drive as there are no public transport links directly to the residential school and be able to drive a standard mini bus as part of the role, or be willing to.

Shifts include working weekend and bank holidays. The hours are preferably full-time - 40 hours a week although they can offer part-time; either 32 or 24 hours a week only.

Shifts types:
Early: start  - 15.30 - Late: 15.00 - 22.30hrs - Long day: 07.15 - 22.15

Whilst on contract with Academics, the hourly rate is £13.68 per hour. Once on a permanent contract, hourly rates range from £13.12 per hour, up to £14.88, dependent on experience.

Once the role becomes permanent, you are required to complete a Level 3 RQF within two years of starting the role. This is supported by the school.

Although experience working in a care, residential or an educational setting is preferable, they are open to candidates new to the sector who have an empathetic and driven nature with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.

To be a successful Residential Support Worker you will be a strong team player, confident and motivated and well organised. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all you'll be someone with a genuine desire to help others.
