Senior Accountant - Healthcare Services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain financial records and ensure accurate ledger entries.
• Reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
• Prepare Statements of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, Statement of Cash Flows and other financial reports.
• Perform intermediate to advanced account analysis and reconciliations.
• Participate in month‑and‑year‑end closing processes and external audits.
• Create and establish accounting systems, procedures, and controls.
• Apply advanced knowledge of GAAP and Financial Accounting Standards; assist in implementing new standards.
• Proficiently use Microsoft Excel (advanced features) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Coach and mentor staff accountants.
• May supervise the work of other accountants on specific projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• May be requested to supervise work of other accountants on specific projects.

• Preferred: CPA license; higher education experience preferred;
  Banner experience preferred; fluency in Spanish or American Sign Language.
• Tier I:
  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or Master’s in business) and either a CPA license, 5+ years accounting experience, or 3+ years public accounting experience.
• Tier II:
  Master’s in Accounting (or CPA license) and either 5+ years accounting experience, 3+ years public accounting experience with at least 2 years in an advanced role.
• Extensive accounting, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Team player with excellent customer‑service, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to coach and mentor staff accounting roles.
• Ability to articulate and defend the institution’s Christian educational mission and vision.
• Individual must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan.
• Individual must not be convicted of or plead nolo contendere or guilty to any crime involving the use, acquisition or expenditure of federal, state or local government funds, or be administratively or judicially determined to have committed fraud or other material violations of law involving government funds (CFR 668.14(b)(18)(i)).

Frequently required to sit for extended periods performing deskwork or typing on a keyboard; regularly required to hear and speak; occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs; occasionally required to handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop; regularly lift 10 pounds or fewer.

The working environment is a climate‑controlled, well‑lit office with a moderate noise level.

If required to travel, a valid driver’s license, acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance are necessary when driving on duty.
