Position: Sr Administrative Assistant for School of Engineering

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Always displays professionalism and decorum appropriate in the representation of the Office of the Dean.

Perform all aspects of administrative support to the Dean, including schedule management and school communication.

Arrange meetings, travel, and special events for the Dean as required.

Assist in travel coordination for guests of the School of Engineering.

Reconcile expenses associated with leadership and guest travel, as well as miscellaneous expenses as incurred.

Administrative support for Dean’s academic teaching load, when required.

Serve as school liaison between Human Resources and school leadership in all matters of hiring and position management, initiating all HR activities as appropriate.

Assist the Dean in maintenance of faculty personnel files and hierarchy records.

Special projects as assigned.

Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
  • High school degree and five years of administrative experience are required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Candidate must possess exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Well-developed professionalism, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Preferred education and experience: college degree preferred.
  • Travel arrangement and expense reconciliation experience a plus.
  • Preference will be given to administrative experience in academic and/or executive settings.
ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
  • Communication and Comprehension – Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Problem Solving – Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both routine and complex nature.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY ABILITIES
  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Climate‑controlled setting, well lighted, moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional facilitation of events outdoors.
  • Driving requirements: use of personal vehicle or LU vehicles; proof of valid driver’s license, acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance required when driving in performance of duties.

PAY RANGES AND BENEFITS

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, alongside University needs and external market conditions. The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance. $21.15 - $24.04.
