Position: Event Officer - Work Study

Responsibilities

  • Assist the University Events Office with both internal and external events.
  • Support event coordinators, provide event support to university service personnel, and assist with event planning.
  • Perform office duties: make phone calls, send emails, schedule events in 25

    Live, and other administrative tasks.
  • Lifting and moving small materials as required.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with on‑ and off‑campus customers.
  • Provide support, information, and guidance in scheduling and planning departmental events in Liberty University facilities.
  • Data entry of work orders and event logistics.
  • Front desk and office welcome for all customers.
  • Assist with scheduling and logistics for all university events.
  • Enforce university policies and standards for summer events and conferences.
  • Maintain open and closing duties for event facilities.
  • Issue work orders or notify event managers of problems or situations.
  • Help develop standard operational procedures for the university events office.
  • Promote professionalism and outstanding customer service in accordance with the Liberty Way.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Remain abreast of all events held on campus.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
Qualifications & Credentials
  • Working toward a four‑year degree in business, marketing, or equivalent professional work experience.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal communication skills and familiarity with standard Microsoft Office software.
  • High‑school diploma or GED required.
Abilities & Competencies
  • Communication and Comprehension – effectively communicate verbally and in writing; understand, speak, and write English professionally.
  • Public Communication – represent Liberty University professionally to business and community customers.
  • Organizational Skills – strong organizational and efficient computer skills.
  • Problem Solving – intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems.
  • Physical and Sensory Abilities – travel locally and campus‑wide; sit for extended periods, type, hear, speak, stand, walk, climb stairs; handle materials; lift 10lb or less.
Driving Requirements

Use of personal vehicle required for travel in the performance of essential functions. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance required.

Onsite. Pay Rate:
Starting at $12.77 per hour. Student employees paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position, department, responsibilities, skills, funding, and market conditions.
